UC and GBCA partner to deliver new courses in Melbourne

8 August 2016: The University of Canberra and the Global Business College of Australia (GBCA) have signed an agreement to formalise their education partnership.

Through this collaboration, the University of Canberra and GBCA will deliver higher education courses from 2017.  Dr Celina Yu, GBCA’s College Manager, has been appointed as the Principal of the new campus.

The agreement, signed by the University’s Acting Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Frances Shannon and the Chairman of the Huashang Education Group, Dr Yung Chau Liu, establishes pathways for both UC and GBCA’s students to continue their studies in degree courses at their Melbourne campus.

Attending the signing ceremony were Huashang Education Group’s Executive Directors and Vice Presidents, Ms. Eman Liu and Mr. Ethan Liu; Dr Celina Yu, College Principal of GBCA; a representative from the Education Consulate at the Chinese Embassy, Mr Ma Linlan; and the University’s Vice-President Global, Mr Rongyu Li and Dean of the Faculty of Education, Science, Technology and Mathematics, Professor Geoff Riordan.

Dr Yung Chau Liu said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with the University of Canberra to deliver programs in our Melbourne campus, targeted to meet the changing needs of international and local students.”

Professor Frances Shannon celebrated the partnership between both institutions. “We are very pleased to be able to work with GBCA and look forward to offering our high-quality tertiary education programs to Melbourne-based students,” she said.

GBCA is the first offshore international campus of the Huashang Education Group. It offers a diverse range of quality VET programs such as in Business, I.T. and Accounting.   These programs are designed to propel students into career pathways through their Internship Program with a number of high-profile companies including Southern China Airlines.

The University’s courses combine subject matter and research expertise with input from industry.
